Small Talk Preschool is a specialized early childhood intervention centre for children who have been diagnosed with language-based learning difficulties
There are 4 Specialized Early Childhood Educators and 1 Full-Time Speech-Language Pathologist on-site serving 40 children / families from the Vancouver region
Children are referred to Small Talk Centre by Speech Language Pathologists in the community (e.g., Vancouver Coastal Health, private practice).
The program is designed to promote
functional language through verbal, visual, and hands-on experience. Each half day class consists of 10 children and 2 teachersAs families play an important part of their child’s development, Language Development Workshops and other educational opportunities are provided in order to help parents better understand how their children learn.
Small Talk Centre is located in two portable units on the grounds of Edith Cavell School in Vancouver.
